The second generation of the Nissan Cube, released in 2002 with a more spacious interior and a modern combination of angled and curved surfaces, was based on the third generation of the March, powered by a 1.4 L engine. A CVT was optional once again, and was made available in a stretched wheelbase version with seven seats, called the Cubeł. For 2005, both models were upgraded with the new HR-series 1.5 L engine from the Nissan Tiida, and are now available with the new "e4WD" system, which transfers power to the rear wheels when the front wheels spin. Developed around the product concept of a "magical box," the second-generation Cube provides interior spaciousness and aconvenient storage features which enable the car to serve as the driver's personal 'toolbox.' The exterior design of the Cube was executed with the aim of creating a "new cubic design," and draws on themes proposed in the Nissan Chappo concept first shown at the 2001 Geneva Motor Show. The goal was to create the best box form among the next generation of roomy compact cars in this class. The design team's four key themes of "naughty, relaxing, compact and agile" are embodied in the design. They sought a design with clear originality, functionality that provides "joy of use, and loyalty-inspiring appeal". Uploaded by: |
